Product Description
The Elasto-Gel Hypothermia Cap is a cooling device used to prevent hair loss (Alopecia) in patients receiving chemotherapy. Hair loss is one of the most distressing side effects associated with various anti-neoplastic agents. Like the other Elasto-Gel products, place in freezer for cooling and storage. Stays soft and pliable, even at -20 F. Provides 20-40 minutes of treatment per application. Size Small/Medium Item #CAP610 The Elasto-Gel™ hypothermia cap is made of a glycerin-based gel that maintains its suppleness (or flexibility) even at temperatures of -20°C to -30°C. The cover material is a water resistant stretchable fabric. The chin strap assures good position maintenance.
Directions For Use (*)
1. Keep the cap in a plastic bag in a freezer at -18° to -21°C (0° to -5°F) for a minimum of 4 hours (12 hours preferred). The cap may be left in the freezer indefinitely until ready for use. The cap will remain flexible even at -30°C(-20°F).
2. Moisten hair with cold water.
3. Use the inner disposable liner for hygienic purposes and to avoid direct contact with the cold.
4. Apply the cap 15 minutes before the start of the treatment and leave it on until 15 minutes after the end of the treatment. For an infusion duration of about 1 hour to 1.5 hour, 2 caps may be necessary.
Clinical Studies have shown Elasto-Gel™ Hypothermia Caps aid in the reduction of Alopecia (hair loss)

For best results we recommend changing the cap every 30 to 45 minutes. Cap changes must be accomplished as quickly as possible to avoid a vasodilation reflex. The cap must be worn for the entire therapy session as an interruption could compromise their effectiveness.
Protect exposed skin, the ears in particular when using cold therapy. After use, allow the cap to dry before replacing it in the freezer.
Cleaning Instructions: Remove outside cover and wash with mild soap and water. Air dry the cover.
DO NOT GET THE GEL INSERT WET.
